The first blades for swords were forged in Solingen more than 700 years ago. So it is not surprising that the city is known all over the world for its blade craft industry. In fact, the “Made in Solingen” quality seal may only be used for cutlery, which is essentially produced in Solingen and in the neighboring town of Haan. Some of the oldest artefacts can be admired in the Deutsches Klingenmuseum (German Blade Museum) – just a few minutes drive from our JustStay hotel in Solingen. The city of Solingen as we know it today was only merged around 1975. This makes exploring the different facets of the city all the more interesting.
